1. What’s Eumedis?
It's the largest program ever undertaken by
the European Commission in the development of the global information society with the
following objectives:
- Funding the creation of a network of Mediterranean
information society focal points, which will develop a harmonized governmental strategy
for the development of the Euro-Mediterranean information society.
- Funding an Internet based interconnection between the
European research networks and the Mediterranean
research network, creating a high bandwidth ring all around the Mediterranean region.
- Funding regional pilot information society projects in five
sectors of intervention:
1. Education.
2. Electronic Commerce.
3. Industry ,Business and Innovation.
4. Health care Network.
5. Tourism and Cultural heritage.

2. Who Can Apply?
- Organizations and companies (governmental, non-governmental,
private) working in the field of healthcare, electronic commerce, tourism, culture,
industrial development, or education.
- Information technology companies.
- Universities, research and educational institutes.
For an application to be eligible, it
should be presented by a European partner along with a Euro-Mediterranean consortium
composed of at least two European countries and the largest possible number of
Mediterranean regional entities.

3. Conditions for an
application to be eligible?
For an application to be eligible, it
should be presented by a Euro-Mediterranean consortium composed of at least two
European countries and the largest possible number of Mediterranean regional entities.

4. Way of Participation
Participants can initiate one or more
projects. However, each project should fall within one or more of the five sectors
mentioned above, but each project should fall only in one sector. Furthermore,
participants can join existing projects ideas. Projects should be of regional and
international interest for the Euro-Mediterranean region.

5. Who are the
Euro-Mediterranean Region Countries Covered by EUMEDIS
Any country of the European Union (Austria,
Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Irland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal,
Spain, Sweeden, The Netherlands, UK) or one of the 12 Mediterranean partner countries of
the Barcelona Political Dialogue (Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta,
Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey).

6. Eumedis Budget
The overall budget made for the EUMEDIS
pilot project is 35MEuro.Every sector of intervention has an indicated allocated budget of
7MEuro. The minimum amount for each grant is 1MEuro

7. Evaluation and Selection
of Applications
Applications will be examined and evaluated
with the possible assistance of external experts; applicants may also be contacted for
clarification of the application admitted. All applications projects will be evaluated
according to
- Administrative compliance
- Eligibility
- Technical evaluation
